MXtools Chat Modification Add-on - MCMA
System Requirements:
The ability to host a chat room on WinMX and Windows 2003/XP/2000 (Note: Some users find it works on 2000 others find it doesn't)
How to run
1. Download MCMA from the Download Page, and open the file with WinRAR or WinZip (or any other zip utility).
2. Put the files in your WinMX Folder
3. Close WinMX, and when you want to open WinMX do so using MCMA.exe (instead of the WinMX icon)
4. Open your room as normal
Note: Make sure bandwidth throttles are off
BEFORE opening the room
Coloured Text
WinMX 3.53 has the ability to use multi coloured text - however the chat server in winmx is not able to support this, MCMA adds this support to the channel, if coloured text is used in the channel then all 3.53 users will see it (note: 3.31/nushi chat users will see normal text without colour) You can enable/disable coloured text in mcma.ini by finding "Colour=Enabled" and changing it to "Colour=Disabled" By default the colour codes for text are #c1# for white, #c2# for yellow etc, but you can change the format for the colours (the colour number has to stay the same though, 1 must always be white and 2 always yellow etc) To change the codes for coloured text change the "ColourCode=" setting, use %d to indicate the colour number (eg, #c%d# becomes #c1#, #c2#, #c3# etc) If you wish to restrict access to the coloured text so normal users dont get to join in the fun then you can use the "ColourAllowed=" setting, it can be either "Mod" to allow only moderators and admins (+ or @) or "Admin" for only admins (@) default is "All" for everyone
New Line
MCMA adds a New Line ability to the channel, this allows you to type text and have it come out on multiple lines. ie. if Bob said "Hello#NEWLINE#Everyone!" then the output would be Hello Everyone! This is similar to the #\r\n# command from the popular RCMS however the important difference is it posts the users name before the message, you can change the #NEWLINE# command in mcma.ini under "NewLine="
Commands
MCMA provices a couple of commands to channel Admins (whatever level your /level_disp_op is set to). #stats - Gives the channels stats (uptime etc) #stats - Gives the users stats (stay time, IP Address, Etc) #notice - Displays text without the users name appearing in front of it. - For making announcements etc? or just general fun
RTF Block
WinMX 3.31 processes any RTF text it see's in the channel on Windows NT systems, a patch for this was to use the windows 98 richedit file. However not all 3.31 users have patched themselves so are vulnerable to being crashed by other users typing RTF commands. This block will prevent any RTF from working in the channel, you can disable it in mcma.ini by changing "RTF=Blocked" to "RTF=Allowed" however if you have 3.31 users in the channel its recomended that you have it enabled to protect them. 3.53 users will still see the original {\ stuff, but 3.31 users will see (\ (which wont do anything to them) so you can still have a good laugh at peoples lame attempts to crash 3.31 users... lol
HideID
WinMX adds Anoying ID numbers to users names, some people prefer to have the users ID number hidden in the channel, There are 3 settings that "HideID=" can be set to: Hidden - Half - Shown -
Replace
MCMA has a nice little feature called Replace, you can use this to replace text that users type (or text in their name), there are 2 types or Replace - Replace and ReplaceAll the only difference between them is ReplaceAll also changed the text in enter/exit messages (and causes the name to show incorrectly on the user list) this may seem good at first but it will stop you being able to right click their name to do commands, as you need the original name to do anything. Examples of replace: Replace=hello=Howdy! In this case if anyone types "hello" its replaced by "Howdy!" Replace=@hotmail.com=@looser.com This is the sort of thing some rooms might want to use to stop people going around spamming their email address thinking its a sex room, whenever they say "any hot females email me
blahblah@hotmail.com" it would come out as "any hot females email me
blahblah@looser.com" As well as sorting out things like that it can also be very amusing when the users dont realise whats happening
IP Send Support
When a user is admined (3.53 rooms) MCMA will send a list of users IP's to the client, so clients which support this feature (currently only the Rabbit chat client) are able to display IP addresses of all users instead of just ones that entered after it. This is a protocol enhancement that I had to make myself so its unlikely that any other clients will support this.
Redirect
There is a setting in the mcma.ini file for Redirect= this allows you to set a room to redirect people to, if this is set then anyone who is kicked from the room will instead get redirected to the target room. Example: Redirect=Somewhere_1827D5AB1A2B If this is set then any users that get kicked from the channel will be sent to the target channel (ie. when you kick someone it will redirect them instead) An example setting is "Redirect=TEST_0100007F1A2B" this would mean that when anyone is kicked they will instead be redirected to "TEST_0100007F1A2B"
FakeUsers
MCMA has an option in the ini file for Fake Users, these are users that will join the room (to get the user count higher) but aren't actually visable when you are in the room, this can cause problems if set too high so be careful!
Custom Display
People who really want to customise things a bit can also change the format of the text in the room so instead of: Message It can show it in any format you want, for example: Name said: Message BeforeName= what would normally be the < AfterName=what would normally be the > This only applies to 3.53 users, 3.31 users see a boring normal display. Note that this will likely break 3.53 bots because they cant see the messages properly (all known ones), only bots that run on Nushi (WinMX 3.31 so dont get to see this) will function normally. An Example of customising this: BeforeName=#c6# AfterName=#c6# said: #NEWLINE##c6#> Have a play around and see how you like different formats
Suggestions/Bugs?
If you find any bugs that you think I might be interested in or have any ideas for improving MCMA (no, I wont re-write something exactly like RCMS!) then please post on the MXtools Forum -
