Using XP as most will know
CPU Usage

Somethings up, I looksd at the task manager and cleared some processes. it was down to 2%. As soon as I move my mouse it skyrockets to 79%, and it does this every time. How can moving my mouse use so much CPU?

XP is bad with memory management sometimes, you try runnin scans with adaware and stuffs? the usual? Try and switch to the processes right away to see what skyrockets...

Xp is currently using 0 to 7% of my CPU. I have Azureus running and the normal Windows background stuff. Something may be causing some probs, could be a bad driver, could be some spyware lurking around. Is this on a laptop and is your mouse the little touchpad thing? If so you may want to see if there is a new driver out for it.

I suspect it also has something to do with certain power saving features on your laptop , only switching on certain processes when required, my machine runs about 27-34 processes and is often running at 100% as I make it work hard

I suspect I could do with a few extra sticks of ddr ram to take some of the burden off my hard worked beast, but for now ... gee up neddy .."yeeeehaaa"
Seems to be better now, doesn't like my mouse (18% -> 66%) but it is running better.
Thanks everyone

I figure the mouse is USB cause its a laptop? Try reinstalling your motherboards USB drivers.
Nope, it's a 7 pin one (Internet Mouse?)Bacon wrote:I figure the mouse is USB cause its a laptop? Try reinstalling your motherboards USB drivers.
Happens on any though, touchpad, USB, the 7 pin one..
