Here is another P2P program i got asked about, Its called BearShare.
I just Recently found this one existed and has a peer polpulation over 120,000.
This Product is a Gnutella client. This is a multi-swarming download program that is good if you have ADSL, Cable or Better ( for those lucky enough to get T1, T2 OR T3 )
but works fine with a 56k modem as well ( which i am )
It has alot of goodies incorporated in it, such as a MediaPlayer , Chat features and also has an great search feature + others.

BearShare does not contain spyware but does contain adware ( To direct ads to you as you surf the net (DataMiner) ) on their software . If you do not wish your version to contain adware the purchasing the pro version is required .

We can get rid of the Adware with Spybot or Adaware right?

Hi All,
Sorry i took so long to get to yas but i was away for awhile.
On the Note of Adware in Bearshare, there is one big stuff up in this program that is easily disabled. Its got something to do with BearShare sharing a file its not meant to, the Win.INI file ... one way to get rid of this problem is to disable the web browser in Bearshare by going to :
Setup Uploads Then Uncheck the box that says " Activate the Built in Web Server "
Note: the stuff up was with bearshare 4.0.0 , 4.0.1 (sorry about that)

Ok as for the SPYWARE on bearshare there are two known Spyware programs that you should tend to imediately They Are :

1. SaveNow : Which is installed no matter what, even tho you have the option not to install it ... what you do is delete that folder (which is c:\Program Files\SaveNow ) then run your Adware or Spyware
remover (I personally used Adaware for this and it did the job ), There should be 2 registry Keys for SaveNow and 1 installer File for SaveNow.

(Should you decide to un-install BearShare, The Above spyware components are left on your computer. )

And if you get the " Lite Version " (free) there is another spyware component that comes with it and its called Weather Watch (or similar) ( nothing major but i got when i installed the free version of bearshare, i just deleted the folder and ran adaware again).

Silly question Rock but is it really worth all this trouble ? I beleive this is a client that shares a network that is watched by the Riaa ?

Well, im not really using it to download or share on ... but i just put it out there and if people want to use it, go for it ... if not, oh well they know its there
But then again it works on the same network as limewire too ... and many other cleints aswell.
