I was on WinMx....went to the store.....when I came back, I was dosconnected and had 2 messages.

Message from FBI_Scan_Bot 630
FBI Bot searching shared folder found illegal files. Files and IP logged and reported.

then......

Message from Riaa-amnesty 181
Hello
we have recieved an automated report from the FBI telling us that you shared files that contains several illegal mp3s. We our offering a one time amnesty agreement. To view this agreement please go to http://www.riaa/amnesty/form_1.htm

I am so hopeing this was a joke on someones part, but it's not very funny. I have the crap scared out of me now, lol.

Please tell me you guys know that this is a joke going around.
I almost deleted my stuff!

Does WinMX disconnect very often by itself for you? It is probably a joke and I wouldn't worry about it but what a coincidence that you were disconnected.

Forgot to mention that the url they gave you doesn't exist and browsing through the RIAA website I couldn't find an amnesty form.

Oh Bless you Grinch! I was scared to death to even go to the website for fear it would get more info on me somehow.
I don't usually get disconnected, that's what scared me too. I had been on over 20 hours though so maybe it was just coincidence. When I logged back on, everyone said winmx server had just went down for a minute, maybe that caused it?
And one thing else.....I thought riaa could spell better. (our- instead of are)
