Microsoft says the jump to vista is like the jump from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. If you have ever used 3.1 and 95, you know what they mean.

Keep in mind of you plan on upgrading to Vista you need to boost up your memory to at least 1 GB, 2 GB for the full ability of vista.

If you buy Windows XP Home OEM you will get a cupon for Vista for $59, Windows XP Pro and Windows Media Center Edition a free upgrade to Vista Premire. Keep that in mind. So if you're fixing to get a new computer, get Vista anyway even if you don't plan on using it. Vista is preselling on Amazon between $150 to $500, either way you're saving.

Here's a picture or two of Windows Vista, the links are becuase the images are too big to post on the page:

Vista offers nothing worth upgrading to. Big deal you get a fancy new desktop if you have enough memory and a decent video card. Other than that there is no need to upgrade.

The only chance I will upgrade is if I happen to purchase a PC with it pre-installed. Considering I build my PC's that isn't going to happen.

I upgraded to Slackware Linux and I can't complain a bit.

It doesn't like my laptop much, so I'm testing Kubuntu on it. ('Ubuntu' is an African word meaning "I can't figure out how to configure Slackware.")

I won't be in a mad rush to upgrade to Vista.

XP is working alright at the moment. Sure it has it's problems, but for what I want to do, it does the job.
