ok i got a very strange problem here so lets see who's good with the weird and wacky...

basically i was watchin a movie the other day that i had DL and it worked fine, a day or 2 after i DL another film off BT (suprnova) and another through WinMX ( of janz) i did'nt attempt to watch any of these @ 1st, a day or so later i try to watch a film and there is errors with zoomplayer and loading the file, so i assumed that the BT file was corrupted and went to watch the other new1 only to be greeted with the same provblem, i tried some more of my movies and all had same problems, i un-installed all codecs and zoom and re-install many times and it has'nt corrected this problem, i have tried new codec packs and this will not solve it either, somet even stranger... i tried to play them in winamp also and they would'nt play there either and same again with media player so i tried to play some of my MPEG clips and they also wont play in any of my players.

basically NO movie or video file will play on my computer at present, iits stopped any kind of video file playin :?: :?:

any help or info will be highly appreciated

Did you check GSpot to make sure the codecs were being recognized? Also, did you do a spyware check and a virus check to rule those options out? I am sure you have tried everything but I am just throwing it out there.

By the way, why did you post this in OT?

I was just at the zoom player forum and there is athread there on Codec Packs. According to them they have a tendency to cause problems with your PC. Did you install a pack or just install the ones you need? Did this start after the format?

yer i un-installed all when it 1st happened, then re-installed thinkin it would correct it but it did'nt, so i removed them and got a new codec pack reccomended by janz and her mates in the MO room, who tried helpin me and told me to do the things i had already done, unistall-reinstall etc etc

it did happen after the format yes but not directly after it was probably about a week after, but i have the same setup and codecs/player that i have always used and i have never had probs, fair enough zoom might have errors but why cant i play and vid files and why cant winamp or WMP read them??

i also clean my registry of codecs and installed fresh and nothing

Try just installing the DivX, XVid and AC3 codecs and see what happens. Not a codec pack. That is all I install and I can play any movie I download of the internet.

That is odd then. I am curious as to why it would do this. Could have been a corrupted movie :? but I am not sure it would have jacked your codecs up though.

1) Try using a restore point. If that doesn't work,
2) Try http://videolan.org/ If VLC plays it then it is some sort of codec problem since I believe that VLC has its own codecs. If it won't play them then you are own3d.
Can you play mpg files?

JC i love you!!! well not literally   it worked now thats odd.. so come on you must have a theory 2 this??? i did try and use the actual DIVX and XVID players the other day and some files did play but without sound, these were DIVX i domt thin XVID plays,

but i un-installed and re-installed all codecs, i even tried different codecs, zoomplayer comes with its own codecs and has never ever been a problem b4
