Blaster Worm (Affects XP)

If your upgrading to Windows XP i strongly suggest the downloading of service pack one and all udates first. otherwise you,ll have a real bad day

.This bulletin is essential reading as is the patch you can download from here,
http://www.microsoft.com/security/incident/blast.asp . The give away to this problem is the message box stating " Remote Procedure Call" usually with this message also " shut down initiated by NT System Authority". Guess how i found out

I posted this in the Favorite OS thread. As soon as XP boots for the first time enable the firewall that is built in until you can get the updates and install your preferred firewall. I have done this numerous times without being infected with Blaster.

i got hit by the blaster when i 1st got XP and after many attempts of ppl tryin 2 tell me in rooms etc etc, gaining snippets of info each time, i found the service pack and put it on a floppy, so now if i ever need 2 install XP again im coverd, sayin that the version of XP i have is'nt affected by it so im cool

I remember sending booxy the patch for blaster over msn messenger.
It took about 10 tries because his puter kept shutting down before the transfer would finish. I did get pretty fast at sending files though.
