Boston - Richard Stallman is the founder of the Boston-based Free Software Foundation and author of the GNU General Public License, or GPL, under which many free software programs, including the GNU/Linux operating system, are distributed. Now Stallman has drafted a new version of the GPL, called GPLv3, which would prevent companies from using GPL-licensed code in software that enables digital rights management restrictions on movies and music. Some love it, but others aren't so keen--including Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux, who says he probably will not adopt GPLv3.
