Recordable Media is the true "evil"

I found this interesting:
The Register is reporting on the RIAA claims that recordable media is more of a source of piracy than P2P networks. From the article: 'The RIAA's chief executive, Mitch Bainwol, last week said music fans acquire almost twice as many songs from illegally duplicated CDs as from unauthorized downloads, Associated Press reports. According to Bainwol, in turn citing figures from market watcher NPD, 29 per cent of the recorded music obtained by listeners last year came from content copied onto recordable media. Only 16 per cent came from illegal downloads.'"

It never was... but downloaders are easier to sue than EMTEC, Maxell, Sony, TDK etc etc etc

To me and you downloading is not evil but to people like the MPAA and RIAA and any other AA it is. It is just nice to see that downloading isn't the only evil culprit out there.
Just like back in the day with recordable cassettes, you know how many cassettes I recorded from friends?? Many, I've done the same with CD's. I will ask a friend if I can borrow their CD case for a day or two and rip as much as I can and burn it later. Would it be easier to download them? Of course but you never know what kind of quality you are getting if not done yourself.
Anyways, I am going off on a tangent.

agreed, i ripped my gf's cd's and thats around 2500 songs...no way i could download that much in a week

hmm back in the days of napster ..i d/l'ed 1000 mp3's on dial up <5 k/s....thats 9 months of full time d/l'ing!! Cable ISP rawks!
