PowerBook G4 and iBook G4 battery recall; users already receiving new units
Apple has initiated a recall for certain lithium ion rechargeable batteries that were sold worldwide from October 2004 through May 2005 for use with the following notebook computers: 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4. These batteries were manufactured by LG Chem, Ltd. of South Korea.

MacBook Pro woes continue with expanding batteries
Users have been experiencing heat-related (and sound-related) issues with their shiny new Intel-powered MacBook Pros for some time now. Partial relief has come from both official and unofficial sources, but there hasn't been a complete fix from either Apple or the Mac use-o-sphere. Unfortunately for hopeful MBP owners waiting for all of the madness to end, there's more bad news to report:
Some MacBook Pro owners have noticed that their battery is swelling and no longer charges properly. Based on reports from Apple's Discussion boards, symptoms include batteries that fail to charge completely, computers shutting down while there is still a significant charge left, erratic trackpad behavior, and mouse button sticking problems.
The problem can become severe enough that the MBP's case actually bulges out from the pressure of the swollen battery (as pictured, image from MacMedics.com). I'm not sure how widespread this problem is at the moment, however based on a thread on Apple's support forums, it's much more than just one or two owners.
Not being a MacBook Pro owner myself, I'm starting to definitely feel your pain out there, party peeps. I hope your problems are resolved soon, and let's all hope that no more bad news rolls down the pike regarding what is otherwise an awesome piece of hardware specifically designed to incite geek envy among your peers.
