MGM Fair Use statement

Recently noticed in the grokster case, MGM has admitted it,s fine to copy a cd you own, or transfer it to another medium you own, this seems like what we have been trying to tell them for years now

For years the Big Music companies hhave been banding together to steal your rights from you by including anti copying technology on Cd,s and Dvd Media.

When you purchased the Cd or Dvd you purchased the right to listen/view it, in whatever format you choose, this has always been the "Fair Use" doctrine,
and the big companies have made attempts to steal this from you, seems now they have had to admit its wrong, morally and legally.

they finally admited that they aren't actually allowed to be putting the copy protection on?

i wonder if digital television providers *cough* *cough* bskyb *cough* will admit that by making certain films so that modern video recoders wont record them they are preventing us from legally recording them to watch later?

KM I think you,ll find the BSB macrovision trivial to defeat as it consists of merely placing white blocks in the black level check lines in the
top unused portion of the film, that most folks never see.
Anyone who knows how to triggers a blanking circuit on each new frame can make this sort of *yawn * hi tech method completely useless.
If you construct such a device and run it off the boxes own supply rails it should come to about £5 or less.

It seems you spoke too soon Red , MGM are selling up to Sony, The Japanese monopoly will extend even further than it all ready is into hollywood,
maybe it should be renamed "ollywoo"

we use an even better method - an old VCR that hasn't been programmed to ***** it up

(and yes, i knew how it worked - they cant change the formats without breaking things, so they have to just use the existing top line that they where already using for other things...)
