seems iam having the same problems as the otehr person just before me .
i have winxp with all updates . first i thought it was a windows update problem. moved winmx to a 2nd machine with win98se same problem. people cannot download from me they timeout and disconnect. so then i went in and changed the settings to the 80-120 thing , still the same problem timeout disconnect. with the winxp i totaly disableed the firewall anyway still same problems . i use a cable modem with midco.net to access the internet , no router and no firewall on my end is in use but iam still haveing problems . any and all sugestions would be appreciated

What sort of songs are you trying to download? For the more popular songs, there are a lot of fakes that cannot be downloaded. That might be your problem

And please install a firewall.

1. Its his uploads that are not working, he can download fine.

2. He uses a firewall or did, his Xp Sp2 firewall, its been disabled to try to fix, and he has written an exception for winmx.. no luck.

3. I checked out his ISP cant find any dirt on them so far...

4. The updates he did were for IE however as he mentions the other machine with Win98 still same prob.

5. I am not Psychic.. he was in one of the rooms i frequent and I asked him to post here.. cause we were stumped

Alas, me, we couldn't fix krb's problem either.

Something is changing for winmx users and it's not good. I'm fairly sure it is now being efficiently sorted out from various ISPs out-going traffic. If folks can download, they may stay with the service so it's in the provider's best interests to allow it. Uploading, on the other hand, could cause the ISP some legal problems, depending on the type of packets being sent, and so commonly used (or abused?) P2P clients' packets are being filtered.

The only real fixes at present seem to be:
1. Change of provider or
2. Change of P2P client

The second option is cheaper but still not guaranteed. If an ISP is filtering P2P packets, it's probably filtering them from a lot of different client software.
