This site offers the Ubuntu Linux for free from its site and it seems rather simple and clear about what you will need to download.

I think this is a great oppurtunity to test out Linux without doing anything to your existing windows install using a special live version available from the site.

I hope to hear some of you trying this as Microsoft will be tightening Windows up even more soon with all sorts of DRM (Digital rights management) software and also validation checking on all requests for updates.

Good luck and save yourself a few Dollars :D

Excellent. I am very tempted to try this out, but I have a tendency to screw up certain disk partitions with Linux. :S

I think if you use the live version you dont need to do a partition, but I,m a cautious person also so I,ll try this release in my 2nd machine I have in case of emergencies :?
As I type I have 44 % of the normal install for ix86 downloaded :D
I will be dowloading a few more versions also as I,m sure there will be plenty of popular demand for Linux soon

Various distributions of linux will run over the top of windows, directly from your CD/DVD drive. No need to worry! If you like what you find you can always install later. :)

Well the good news is that I got the complete file with no hitches :D
I have been disappointed before with "free" downloads that have turned out to be impossible to retreive, forcing you to purchase a Cd Rom .
this seems like the real deal 8)
Ill keep you all abreast of my progress and any pitfalls to watch out for :)
