Microsoft Spyware Backdoor

This is a story I read about recently and it dovetailed nicely with an item I posted previously.

Its something I already knew about since I had to repair a few faulty MP3,s and noticed the web addresses embedded into the files.
This is the first time I have heard of it being exploited.
Luckily erasing the correct portion negates the digital rights management, as I found out, by using a hex editor.

Thanks for the heads-up, Quicksilver. Here is some info about WmvDown.A and WmvDown.B. Symantec has removal instructions for these viruses.

This underscores the need to scan all downloaded files before opening them.
