Hmm, I read an article once about carefully drawing a line over the protection with a felt pen, let me find the article

Yeah, I read that too Battye. It was that using a felt pen around the outermost tracks of the disc could block the protection in some cases. I think I read it on an online news page somewhere.

Give DVD Decrypter a try (you can find it on google). This will decrypt the DVD files to your hard drive. It should remove all protection.

It seemed to work however at a certain moment after about 87% it gives again readerror due to crypted files. But ooh well it was only to copy a dvd for my neighbour, he will have to borrow it. I normally have no furter problem with copying so.

The felt tip link can be found in the topic here on cricket

Grinch is correct in that Dvd Decryptor is the normal way to remove css encoding from dvd,s but if you read carefully so does Shrink Dvd and Alcohol 120 % (Although you may need to purchase the last one if you want it for more than a trial period )
Have fun
