I am attempting to use the open nap network by following the tutorial. The "public" file with the date appears. I select it and download it. I do the "right click-import" thing. In fact...everything is copacetic until I return to the open nap screen. That screen is blank. there is nothing there. Right clicking does nothing. What am I doing wrong? Am I supposed to down load something that I've missed?

For informational purposes, I am running bendmx 3.9.9 alpha3 of winmx 3.53 on 3 gig WinXP pro machine.

thanks.

Sometimes this can be caused if the wsx (the file you imported) is empty. Try downloading another PUBLIC file, and trying the same steps again. Let us know if it works.

Thanks :)

Thanks for your prompt reply.

my lack of cleverness will be revealed by next questions:
do I have to do anything with the contents of the "PUBLIC" file. I got some numbers that look like this "PUBLIC 20050531 20050601 2005060". I went to Open Nap, selected the "add" command and entered that exact text string. I have tried this 6 times. The connection timed out each time.

I think I am close, but it feels like I am missing a step or misread an instruction.

One last bit of info that i failed to mention. I am behind a firewall and use a secondary connection.

By WSX I mean the PUBLIC file (WSX is the filetype)

To add the WSX files, a firewall shouldn't interfere.
The numbers are actually dates (20050601 = 2005 - 06 - 01 = June 1, 2005)

Try this, go to 'Import' in the Opennap screen (Networks, Opennap) and navigate to the WSX file (which should be in your default download folder). To get to it, double click folders and use the up button until you find it. Then double click the WSX file. This will import it.

You don't have to alter anything in the PUBLIC, but open it in Notepad or Wordpad, and make sure that there is something in there. We can help you decide, so if you want, post the contents of it here.

Good luck :)
