I'm getting a error in Network Diagnostics,i even formatted my PC and reinstalled my OS Windows ME to see if that would fix the error, but i still get the same error.
I even get it the error after i install the OS,i checked it right away after i installed the OS .
It says this.
Line:145
Char:2
Error:ActiveX component can't create object
Code:0
URL:hcp://system/netdiag/log.htm
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
yes no
If i say yes or no my mouse pointer turns to a hourglass, that's all it does.
Also to i discovered today that Scandisk & Disk Defragmenter doesn't work on my PC in normal mode ,I can only get them to work if i restart my PC in safe mode.
They both open ,but they don't do nothing,if i alt, ctrl & del it i get a blue screen error on my PC ,i press any key to continue, my Desktop only shows my desktop colour, then i have to restart my PC.
Can anyone help me,please???

Have you tried installing a fresh copy of Direct X p2p ?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
I have looked on the net and most of the folks suffering this have been hit by a worm, although formatting would have fixed that problem .
Have you used fdisk to trash the existing partitions and then made a fresh primary partition and then formatted ?
Did you install anything else besides ME ?
Also another item to try is upgrading internet explorer as that can cause problems too.

Oh and last but not least, maybe the hard drive is in trouble, that can cause some weird results, but I dont really suspect this.

Thanks for trying to help me quick.
I did install the latest Direct X 9.0c when i updated my OS at windows updates & i have IE6 sp1 for ME.
I saved the IE6 sp1 setup file before i formatted my PC,then i installed it after i installed my OS instead of downloading it again from windows Updates.
No,i didn't have anything else installed besides ME, when i installed the OS i checked Network Diagnostics right after my OS was installed my modem drivers weren't installed yet either.
No, I didn't do fdisk when i formatted my PC,i just formatted it & installed the OS.
Could my windows setup files have a worm in it?I have them on a HD,my cd is too scratched up and i get errors when i try to install the OS from cd, i had to copy the setup files from a friends HD to install the OS.

While it's possible your setup files are infected... we'll have to hope it's more simple than that. Are you running anti-virus software (or anything else that continuously scans the system) while trying to run scandisk and defrag? If so, turn it off. Defrag doesn't like to run if scandisk hasn't been completely run recently and scandisk can't finish it's work if things keep changing the tables it's looking at.

Thanx Rat,I hope my setup files aint infected. My setup files also have my modem drivers for XP in a zip file in there.i can't remember if i put them in there or not ,it had 2 copies of the same drivers at least that's what it looked like when i openned it.
yes i have AVG ,AVG detected a trojan on Tuesday and i deleted it from the virus vault. It was in the hidden IE5 folder.I also used Index.dat Suite to clean out all my IE index.dat files,MRU,history & temp files too.
I tried Scandisk & defrag without my AV ,sygate & spybot Teatimer on,but they it didn't work. The only way I can do either is to go into safe mode.
It could be IDS fault cos it frees up space when it deletes the index.dat files & the other files it deletes, but i've never had any problems with Scandisk or Defrag not working after i used IDS or it could be the trojan i had but AVG detected it right away.
Damn computer's can be fun when they work right, but they can surely be a pain in the /-\ss when they don't work right.

hi when i restarted my PC today Scandisk started ,but it only detected my D drive and didn't detect my C drive,I also went to Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools and tried Scandisk on my D drive and it works, but if i try to scan my C drive it just doesn't work (crashes)and i have to restart my PC.
The samething happens too when i try to defrag. it does work on my D drive, but it doesn't work on my C drive.
