The webmaster of Filesoup has decided to shut down at the end of this months billing cycle. Apparently he is fed up with script kiddies, arguing amongst long time members on other bull$hit. Someone with a moderator account deleted 8 forums and that was the last straw. He is willing to turn the site over to someone who is willing to support it financially. If he finds no one, the site and it's members will go away. This will be a huge loss to the BT scene. So much valuable knowledge will be lost. Hopefull one of the other members will take control and let filesoup live.

It seems the moderator's account was hacked and then 8 forums were deleted. Just to make it clear. Either way, it's sad news and I hope to see filesoup stick around.

The loss of filesoup will truely be a loss to the BT community at large.
I can relate somewhat to the admins decision though.... one of the main reasons I stopped hosting a channel and quit using WinMX was all of the jerks that caused trouble and spread fake files.
I do hope that if he does pass it onto someone else that they will be able to continue the same quality board as it's always been...If not, maybe a "dignified-death" would be best. :(

After the hacking that occured on Slycks forum, I think we should be looking at an industry sponsored attack rather than blaming some idiot with a gripe.
I just view it as very coincidental that sites either listing or aiding BT links are being attacked, and the blame always seems to fall on "mystery hackers".

This would indeed have been a serious blow to the BT community, and Grinch I know has been a very active and long standing supporter there, but good news
Filesoup News ...Update

Hyrle has spoken to snookered and I regarding one (or both) of us taking over the running of Filesoup. Neither snookered or myself want to see the Soup go, so obviously, we've both expressed our gratitude to Hyrle for offering the site to us and have accepted his very kind and generous offer.

Tomorrow (Monday), Hyrle will look into all the details that are required to transfer the ownership, hosting and all other aspects of filesoup.com to me/us. Once we have this information and exchanged the necessary details, there will be an official announcement to let everyone know what is happening and when.

Thank you all for your very warm and kind words of support to Hyrle and the staff, we very much appreciate your understanding the present situation and will do all we can to keep you informed and up-to-date.

Kind regards to everyone

Geeker

I will have to agree with Grinch alot of great things come from Filesoup and it's community.
Glad to see it's going to stick around now I can stop C+P things.
