i remembered that some chat room on winmx where using a search engine called SHAREGAURD (I THINK) it was a long time ago .....where you typed in File NAME and it listed all the users in that room that had The FILE shared

THAT would be a good why to find real files And not get Fake ones

Hi Hawks , Shareguard huh, myth to some, good program to those that saw it working .
The program was developed by Bender at MxControls and had a few teething problems that he identified .
I believe he had to make the decision to stop developement on it as it was going to take a complete rewrite and he had existing projects that require his time (RoboMx,Metis,MxControl bot and other projects that he was working on)
Maybe he can fix it one day, but for now the project is dead , and it was for room use anyway.
I,m sure someone else could make a bot that gets the share listing of each user from Mx and processes it in some way, to give some results but good programmers are hard to find.
We have an old pic here from the archives of Shareguard in action.

i think the reason why he dropped it is the same reason nobody else will make something like it - why make it easy for someone to enter a room and get a list of all the copyrighted files everyone is sharing?

ThanKs for the Info On it Quick

KM Now You Made a Good Idea Look Bad to me
I guess your right but people can just browse
and get a list of all the copyrighted files
but the APP would make it easyer to get what your lookin for
dont want to do it the hard way and browse everyone.....
OR ASK......

Or it could be like when you look for some thing it sends you back a
list .But dose not show who has the file just shows
the File and info On it (Hash CODE,Bytes,Time.etc....)

(Just thinking)
shows HashCode of the all files
(OH WELL)

This is the compiled release of ShareGuard , for you to all look at and test . It requires the MxSock.dll.
Please dont download this if your expecting a finished release.
This release is covered by the regulations as shown in the sourcecode , found using the link above .
Bender is not to pestered or harrased for updates please folks.
He has been good enough to share this with us, but made it 100% clear it was not going to be worked on anymore. so Big thanx to him, Cheers Bender 8)

Actually Jimmys I left that out on purpose so that only folks who knew what they where doing could use it .
I,m sure Bender dont want 300 of theses beasts roaming the rooms..lol
Still thanx for thinking to help the not so wise folk , your hearts in the right place 8)
I have been watching a few folk test it already and have heard a few folks planning to make a few mods to enhance its use.
I ,hope to report success on that soon as it would be good to bring life to this useful tool.
Its very advanced and aside from listing too much and falling out of the room (this can be limited) its great. :D

so people dont Abuse this Bot make your room so people have to login in a voice to talk
0 penalty content should be put on ( no leaches)
In and out penalty should be put on (if you come in stay for a certain time)

This is what could be in ShareGuard (just a few)

Have bots that run ,that can be made to !find defined extensions search ( so more than one bot can run from many useres)
be able to index certain file extensions (skip what will not be index)
Limit the number of Finds a user can do (abuse from to many searches)

Those sound like sensible ideas Hawks, and fairly easy to implement .
I liked the text colour change, that made the results so much more viewable. Worth doing folks if you got a colour room that can turn the text colour into a something other than white.
Well so far all these simple things can be meddled with without drastic surgery..
Bender built a nice peice of code here, but as you know, he only gives us the best 8)

Hi all,
Just wanted ya to know there is Shareguard that installs and has all components .. but i will stipulate that there will be no updates for this and can be a little buggy ( especially 3.53 and 3.54beta, if not admined above 180 it will flood the room then get kicked automaticaly when listing files ) but other than that it is fine. And i do believe that this is the beta version as there is no updates for it and there will be no updates for it in future. I gotto thank Bender for making this wonderful program.

Just a little reminder that all modifications you make to ShareGuard must be released as sourcecode aswell or you will violate the GPL and void your license :)

Josh it will work in any room using the winmx protocol, I know for a fact it works fine with an Ouka room, I suggest your
doing something wrong with it.
