can't seem to get the computer to recognize both drives. They both work individually but not together...does it have anything to do with the "sliders" on the back of the drives? ::[:] =current setting do they have to be moved to work together?

If they are on the same ide cable then one must be set to master and the other to slave.

We tried that and it wouldn't work for some odd reason. They kept switching around for which would show up when the computer would start up. At first the DVD-ROM drive would show up then it would switch to the CD-RW drive and then none at all then either the DVD or CD-RW...

the IDE cable might have been bad, because the one i have in there right now works just fine, but I got a different drive in there
