A months wait but here it is, get your copy from here :D (3.53 Beta 1)

http://dld91.winmx.com/45654935842241/winmx354beta1.zip
There is no formal installer with any beta versions. Simply take the WinMX.exe file out of the zip, and either drop it in your C:\Program Files\WinMX (rename the old exe first so you can restore it later) so it works on the same config as your copy of 3.53, OR put it into it's own folder (doesn't matter where) and run, which will create a new config.
What's new in v3.54 beta 1

Completely new Library component. The new component's features include fully asynchronous file and folder scan on separate background thread, video file meta info, full recursive operation, selective sharing, and several other major improvements.
PLEASE remember this is BETA edition software. We have tested it to a limited degree already, but there still may be significant problems. Like ALL versions of WinMX, you run it at your own risk. If you feel uncomfortable with this, or are unsure of your expertise with WinMX, please reconsider participating in the test and wait for the next fully tested release.

Post your feedback here please :D

i took a quick look, other than trying to complicate the process of sharing files so more users will have problems trying to figure out how to share it doesn't seem to be any different in the program itself...

however it does look like frontcode have answered the question about what they think about third party programs using the network... i'll have to make a few updates to some of my software if it starts to be used more widely... lol

Always a wise move KM ,
I would,nt get too deeply involved though as you may find they change a few items around in the final realease, possibly wasting a weeks hard work.. :?

I read this on Mx tools site .
Before anyone mentions it... I am aware that 3.54b1 is blocking MCS rooms from the channel list... its such a tiny change to fix that its not worth the hassle of releasing a new version just for that... lol

In technical terms its nothing, its easy to fix, but it does show something about FC, they dont like third party apps using the network... but as long as people want them, people will use them so its not really worth them bothering trying to block them...

Also 3.53 has removed a couple of the colours that MCS has (35 and 36) so I also know about that :-P

As for MCMA, the beta version detects the method MCMA uses to inject itself and exits when it see's it, but MCMA development has been stopped anyway.

3.53 KM ? Anyway thanx for the information Alex And KM 8)

The beta has a better library set out than any other WinMX so far ( as it hasnt changed all that much ) one thing is that when u browse someone using the beta version and use the "show full path " option the user browsing will not get the full path of where the files are located ( ie. wont get anyones name if they have Xp ( C:\documents and setting\Fred\my music\******.mp3 )
Also with the beta version u can scan all media and choose what you want to share as with the old version u couldnt, it just shared anything in you computer. Its a step in the right direction for mx cant wait till the next beta comes out :)

Hmm, WinMX 3.54 Beta 1 has not crashed on me, i like the idea of iot rebuilding the file list in the background, and compliling the shared files and stuff to a library, and there will be some users that wont have a clue. The "Scan for media" scans for media in the right places, ie not in WINDOWS/System32, and you can create your own shared file extensions, making it eaiser to share other file types, such as wma, wmv, and other rare files, you can also assign a title for them. I also like it showing, and it's so very helpful, the codecs and resolution so you know if you're getting a pile of crap or not.

Naturally for it being beta 1, you can expect errors. I have no problem with the WinMX authors to have a problem with 3rd parties using the WPN, becuase it slows it down. I remember all the stuff about QuickMX, nice idea, bad results. We should only stick to the main game, eventually I'm sure WinMX will have a leech blocker, but it's a while down the road, and I'm sure it will be as fair as it can possibly be. We'll just have to wait and see what happens, we waited almost 2 years, don't complain now.

Wannabe , I read this while laughing
don't complain now
I dont think people are complaining, their just letting Frontcode know what works and what does,nt which is the reason for beta testing.
The main problem with this beta has been a loss of memory of shared files when first switching on. Frontcode are addressing this problem.

the whole deal you read on slyck, just toss it out the window because no one can prove that it was frontcode's words, it may have been. But at that time people were suspecting that slyck was full of it.

I,m sure he believed what was said to him at the time, and Frontcode are not as aggressive about money making as a few other P2P vendors so, who are we to complain.
