Ok hold on to your hats theres a new beta about to be released (3.54)
WinMX v3.54 BETA
A new Library component replaces the Shared Files window. The new Library allows for much greater user control over what files are being made available. Rebuilding and refreshing is completely in the background on separate threads. Video files are now scanned for bitrate, compression format, frame size, etc.
The bad news :(
The beta test has not started yet. The new Library component is in the final stages of development and testing should begin soon...
Points of interest:

- Refresh / meta scan is totally in the background (on two additional worker threads)
- All compound filetypes can be customized from the settings window
- Add folder dialog has been un-modalized

For the latest development info and screenshots, visit the Beta channel:

There are a selection of screen shots here for your viewing pleasure :D

Well all we need now is the beta itself

Ok I,ve looked at the screen shots and it has improved statistics for video files and the Open Nap connection window is now similar to a windows directory tree and folder layout.
The shared folders and files are now called "Library" rather than shared.
Also downloaded files are now seperated into different types of file .

Looks different but has it had any functional changes ?

Looks to me like they just realised that the promised and much needed primary protocol upgrades are much harder than they realised so are just doing everything else and trying to put off the upgrades for as long as possable

They seem to spend alot of time adding features that just aren't that important to the average user. Upcoming beta releases promise improvements to the core functions and program (100% search coverage, static hotlist (ok, so thats not all that useful) etc.)
But then, that is on the next-next beta release, 3.54 hasn't even been released yet, so we'll wait and seewhat they improve on in the future (as if we have any choice but to wait )

I see they still have "Scan for media" which ensures another generation of newbie morons sharing their entire drives.
