No more for me.
Well, today was the day. I uninstalled Winmx and MxMonitor. A year ago, if you told me I would be getting rid of winmx I would have called you crazy.
In the past 6 or 7 months Winmx has been just basically sitting there on my desktop. I have gone on a few times to chat or maybe grab a quick something off a friend in a room. I have tried to get on the past week and it has been pointless. Rooms ain't loading, uploads are hell, and it isn't me. I gave a little test of the search function and HOLY *****! This is reminding me of about 4 years ago when Kazaa lite became pointless.
Frankly, i'm busy and have little time and little interest with p2p anymore. This just makes it impossible for me to take the time to mess with it.
I was basically using winmx only to chat with the many people I meet over the years in various chat rooms. Maybe a file here and there, but not that often. It is kind of sad to see something I really enjoyed have this happen.
I hope to come around here a lot more. If things start to really improve, let me know, i'll be back in a heart-beat.
No more for me.

Wow, someone else realized something that I did over a year ago. WinMX isn't what it used to be and it will only continue to degrade. WinMX users thought they were safe due to the decentralization of WinMX but alas, they found a way to disrupt the once beloved network. They may not catch you but they will make getting files extremely annoying to the point you want to give up. There are other laternatives out there. Investigate them, you may not be dissappointed in what you find.
The WPNP is falling apart rapidly, and the sadest thing is Frontcode is letting it happen.
At least OpenNap still works..

What would happen if you knew the company responsible for the decoy files being flooded into the WPN? What would happen if you knew the names of the people that registered this particular 'interdiction of de-centralized p2p networks' for a patent? What if you had done a little poking around on the web and you have these people's Street addresses? What would you do if you had their home phone numbers?
I haven't deleted WinMx, all though I probably should I never use it for anything and did remove the desktop icon. Getting a decent room channel list had become as difficult as finding a file that isn't fake. Long after I quit trying to make WinMX work as a proper p2p tool and moved on to other alternatives my daughter kept on trying to use it. She now looks at me with an evil eye thinking I may have done something locally to the PC to stop her from getting her beloved Rap music files and to stop a subpoena knock on the door. I told her too read a few of the forums to see first hand all about the demise and failure of WinMX, yes failure.
While Frontcode waited years to upgrade the program improving it in anyway and it's dedicated users waiting patiently in limbo. The RIAA decided to do something well beyond the kiddy script writing numb nuts crashing the rooms.
Pointless? Yes even my daughter it finding it that way, with no ones help I might add. "I want files" so why spend over half the night reading up on the latest fixes downloading and adding them, then trying to figure out how to get them all to work together without crashing just to get a few decent mp3s to fill a CD.
Besides, here it comes the letters everyone seems to sling around, "IMHO" just like Frontcode seems all everyone wants to improve on is the chat functions of the horse beat dead WinMX. With all the colored bubbles, text, and "slap me' flying around the rooms I want to be sick. At one time I did think that having rooms and the chat thing with WinMX it would save it. Even if you were flooded with 30,000 fake files, and it didn't instantly crash, you could always go to one of the rooms to share your files with other users. Make friends in a music discussion and get the files you needed/wanted.
Then I remembered why most of the millions of WinMX users didn't chat in the rooms anyway. Don't get me wrong I know there are/may be a few good rooms out there, about as many as your non fake file results, for the most part they are filled with degenerates, leeches, and what a friend called f ucktards. And lets not forget those traders that finnish there file first then cut you off.
Some people scream "it's a revolution" then add p2p to there chant. OK I will agree with that, if that's what you wish to call it. So I don't see me standing armed with a blank shooting program like WinMX, come on somebody give us a real weapon. There are way to many alternative p2p programs out there to fight back with, again if thats what your calling it, even stuff older than WinMX that still works right compared to. As far as chatting or if you prefer meeting other freaks and weirdoes like yourself there is still always MSN, Yahoo, etc. I personaly find the blog thing cool. Almost any site has a shout box, forum, or room. In short spending hours if not weeks adding to useless p2p programs chat function well.... maybe you/they should take another math class or seek some other type of much needed professional help. Then again you could always set around on your donkey and wait on Frontcode or the pharmaceutical companies to come up with a pill for redundancy and ignorance.

People will still use it. I talk to people that STILL use Kazaa! Now that's crazy. Does the RIAA realize the p2p cat is WAY out of the bag, and will not be stopped? A few feed-up WinMx users will come together and make something new and better. P2p will live.
It just sucks.
