AVG Free has worked great for me, easy to use, frequent updates and has kept my puter clean for quite awhile.

Don't use Norton, it's actually a very well disguised virus... I'm kidding but it's crap, I agree with Freez; AVG rocks :D

I used grisoft before, but kept not being able to update it. Wondering if that would still be the case.

I have heard that some users use no on your PC virus protection.. Instead they use the online scans.
Or/and keep backups, then system restore or reformat every so often..Saves space but not time.

I dont quite understand what happened to Norton, becuase, it "used" to work fine. Lately it's been, "Norton Anti-Virus has encoutered a internal program error, please reinstall the software." This is $60 software to be screwed up, somebody is being pretty cheap, no offense, but are they hiring mexicans to write thier programs?

I agree if you dont have antiviral software running when downloading your a mad man (or mad lady..lol) .
I have used nortons for years also and only once has it caused trouble and that was my fault for turning off the firwall , a nice bug crawled in and nuked the antivirus package and started trying to open a door for anyone , I read about it and its specifically targetted to take out all the usual AV packages .. very nice  .
Most of you use AVG I noticed and thats the most popular free one I think.

Although PC-Cillin Internet Security costs money, I cannot stress enough how good it is, specially if your going from Free Software to PC-Cillin. You can buy with your credit card, download it and be up and going as fast as your internet connection is. I have been using it for two years over two licences and its great, plus it isn't a RAM hungry application like Norton.

Highly Recommended PC-Cillin Internet Security 2004 from Bacon ;)

I must agree with you on that Bacon many are the times Norton would refuse to scan a file because it had eaten up all the resources.

Most packages that are any good all rely on the updates and thats the important factor .
The more popular a certain brand is the more the temptation for the virus writers to attack it :(
