no results, the pinholes don't seem to be working. What could be the problem now?

Do you have any firewall software installed like Norton, McAfee Sygate or any others?

AV software shouldn't affect winmx unless you are using it alongside Norton Internet Security. You are not using XP so it isn't the built in firewall. You have forwarded the ports through your router. Are you 100% sure you forwarded the correct ports for both TCP and UDP?

try this to see if you opened the right port.
http://www.mxtools.net/tools/tester.php This website is able to test if you can have incoming connections on winmx, once you are there click on check. Reply the result here.[/url]

"Unable to connect, Connection was not accepted by the remote system, Check your firewall/router settings!

It is also possible that your ISP may be blocking this port"

I'll try the pinholes again to see if their right

tried again but still not right. heres what i did for the tcp
external port start: 6699
external port end: 6699
internal port: 6699

there has to be something wrong here

Have you removed all adware or spyware you might have?

Okay... I am not sure what else you can do here... but I have one other suggestion...First though let me ask this... are you using the new or old version of WinMx?

I had this problem at one time too...you may have already done this but if I were you I would completely uninstall WinMx and reinstall it.. see if it makes a difference...
When mine did this I hadnt changed anything and it began timing out all round but not on every dl or ul... just most.... so i reinstalled and presto.. problem was solved..

If you want the old version of WinMX to try go here:

New 3.53 version go to:

I didn't think that would have done it but it seems to have done the trick. I don't know if its a complete success but I'll check back in awhile, i'm just downloading Reservoir dogs at the moment.
