Where can I find a decent one? or steal....

I used one that could take AVI files and convert to gifs, but it put a big "UNLISCENSED" over it and it made it useless.

The one I've heard suggested is Ulead Gif Animator.
It's suggested for ease of use. If you remember my dancing chicks avatar, Sir Tuho used Ulead to tweak it into shape.

Also, Macromedia Flash can export as animated gif, and it's not too insanely hard to learn, but the learning curve is a bit steep.

I felt sure I replied to this thread earlier. Ho hum. I'll try again.

I agree that Ulead is good. I've also used Macromedia Flash, Swish (a flash-made-easy gadget) and Animation Shop (which comes with Jasc Paintshop Pro). All are good. None are free.

I used Ulead a long time ago, and I found it to be very good.

I found a trial of a program called MotionGIF and it's quite easy to use, here's one of the animations I made with it.

I made the images in Paint first (which would explain the low quality) and pasted it into the program.
