Info needed for modding an XBox

Howdy Ho! Too all of you gamers geeks and geekettes amongst us!
I'm a hardcore non-gamer (well as far as the techical aspecsts goes anyway)
My friend and I lwould like to do a little project regarding 'modding' an XBox so that it play 'backup copies" and other types of media that, to be honest, is to be downloaded. (Why lie to you guys? )


Now as all of you well know I usually try to find the answers myself before asking in a forum, but this time I'm just not sure what to look for.
I have looked at several sites offering these 'mod-chip" varying in price range, but I'm not sure what would be the best way to bo on this.
Installation wont be a problem, as we are both very proficient with elicterical things.
If anyone has any advice as to what mod-chip to use, and reputable dealers I would be most appreciative.
Also, what types of copied media will we be able to utilize with a modded box (Ie: Films, etc) and also we were wonmdering if once it is moded, will it be able to also play pirated or even legit copies of PS2 Games.

Any help, advice, ann/or links to tutorials on installing and preparing a pirate file for use would really make me a happy camper!

Do you mean like play dvds and other such things? X-Box can be upgraded via normal computer parts, so if you got a spare HD laying around you can put that in there! Spare video card...lot a problem

Yes to play DVDs and 'back-up' copies of games. I have heard of mod chips that can be soldered into an xbox that will allow this.
