Intel dumps Tejas Project for Something cooler

Intel is dumping their tejas chip due to heating problems that they cannot control. Tejas was expected to be the Pentium 5 chip. Tejas was also supposed to breech the 10GHz threshold over it's lifespan. So Intel is developing dual core processors instead. Basically that means that current processors have one brain, the new intel chips will have 2 brains abling your PC to perform more tasks at once. Think of it as a improved version of HyperThreading. This one done in favor of the Windows Longhorn OS which is supposed to run better on dual-core chips/dual procs.

In other Intel news, the Prescott family of procs is expected to break 4GHz this year. They will also be releasing an Extreme Edition Prescott featuring over 2MB of cache . It will also support 64bit technology just like the AMD64. But then the Prescott will be changed over to support the dual core technology.

Intel is desperately working to overtake AMD in the processor world and if all this does come out in 2005 like projected then once again Intel will be the top dog in processing power. The only bad thing is the new dual core proc will require a new motherboard.

So for you technology nuts that have to have the latest and greatest, it sounds like Intel will have a good year in 2005.

You can do that now with current PC technology. All you need is a video card that has a built in TV tuner, hook you cable straight up to it and record TV shows to your hard drive just like TiVO. Ask jctoad, he built one. He has a website explaining the whole process and he built it using very inexpensive parts and nothing fancy. I think the whole project cost him a few hundred, I can't remember exactly.

Since I got my cable modem, I've hardly ever watched tv. Sometimes I'll watch when I'm sitting around, but it's not like I have any show that I keep track of when it's on so I can check it out.

Euhm no computer won't take away usage of television in near future. Although they are going to work together computer can't beat the user friendlyness and cheapness that a television offers.

i doubt that one freggle...computers are getting near the replacement of t.v.'s because computers can do so much more that a tv cant

I agree on that partially. I think the computer will going to be connected to the TV so you can record and play movies but the TV will show the content itself.
