Re: Browser toolbars - how many?!

Years ago, I ran with the Google toolbar in IE. I even installed it in Firefox, out of habit. When I realized that I only actually wanted the searchbox, the toolbar was gone.

Re: Browser Wars!

It wasn't so stable on mine the last time I tried it. But, that was a while back and I was already several versions of Kubuntu old at the time.

Re: Browser Wars!

I use Firefox for my dad-to-day use and Opera for a second gmail address and some things I plan to read eventually. Galeon is handy if I want to test a page that might be dangerous and crash my tabs. And, for me, Konqueror is only for file system, ftp, file over ssh, or pretending to be IE for some ...

Re: [ Poll ] How do you listen to your music on your compute

I voted for "other". I use Amarok (1.4) mostly, or stream Last.fm. Sometimes I'll use VLC if I don't want to mess up my Amarok playlist if I've been listening to a book. I recently got a Sansa Connect on the cheap, which might be similar to the Vuze. I've been investigating options to conv...

Re: What game are you playing on your PC?

Another good one that I play in spurts is Battle for Wesnoth.
It has more polish and content than most other games that I've played, especially compared to other free games.

Re: Do You Turn Your Computers Off At Night?

I turn my work PC off over the weekend, but my home computers are on all the time.
One desktop is set to record tv and run backups nightly, the other has a web server running. The laptops stay on because we're lazy. :)

Re: Using Windows Keyboards - f functions, ctrl, logo, alt..

Depending on your browser, slash "/" starts searching, and F3 works as "find next" To minimize all of your windows, Win+D or Win+M If you hit it again before you open anything, all of your windows come back up. F11 will fullscreen your browser F6 puts focus on your address bar, t...

Re: IE? No thanks! (And about time too!)

I think it would be best if the browsers were sorted randomly for each user. I think it's funny that they chose Opera, as the weakest of their main competitors (usage-wise). Personally, I keep Firefox and Opera open 24/7. Opera is for my "professional" gmail account and articles that I mig...

Re: Playing With HTML

I always install the Web developer toolbar for Firefox, then I disable the actual toolbar and just use the right-click menu when I need it. It allows you to highlight elements, disable javascript or css, autofill forms with test data, etc.

Re: IE? No thanks! (And about time too!)

On one hand, I'm morally obligated to support any kick to MS's shins. On the other hand, who gets to decide which alternative browsers are presented? To only represent the top 3 or so seems to miss the point.

In Windows XP go to:
*Start
*All Programs
*Accessories
*System Tools
*Character Map - here you will find characters with their meanings.
Alternatively, click Start > Run
