Re: How do you typically get your media these days?

Oh I love vinyl and yes the mastering on albums, everything down the chain, the styus, the cartridge, the preamp and probably the biggest thing, your speakers. I have played new albums that sounded bad and then there's some albums like Dire Straits "Brother's In Arms" that is just a master...

Re: Plex

And apparently I was looking at the first page.... So yeah Plex started getting into the space of streaming "free" to watch TV and Movies and yep, your typical crap stuff. I mean not to say you can't find something good, I also don't use that stuff. Essentialy Plex is really meant for peop...

Re: Plex

Ah I should have responded to this long ago. Yes yes I use plex. I do run it on a PC so I can a little more performance on the transcoding. I do share with family and a couple friends. The 4k stuff, I feel like my old Skylake is getting aged out, just haven't had the money to do a new build but 4k t...

Re: CricketMX online for 20 YEARS!

Holy *****! That is great! Never would have thought that all the way back in 2004 by joining a chatroom on WinMX (It was called Don't Piss Me Off, of all the chat rooms that were there, used to be be like what 100+) and WinMX Community. Super cool. And yeah I have a lot of old cringy posts from when...

Re: Plex

Boy am I late replying to this... I had to fight my ISP to get my public IP back when they changed the equipment. I have been using plex for about 4-5 years and I run it on a PC with a graphics card. I personally think if you go with a graphics card route, might try AMD cards because nVidia locks yo...

Re: Utorrent

I used to use uTorrent a lot about 10 years ago, and it was compact and light on resources. I was concentrating on building a nice little library of music from lossless--FLAC. It worked well for me. I downloaded and shared a crapload of nice audio. I've gone through a few PCs since then and never i...

Re: How do you typically get your media these days?

I typically will prefer new vinyl simply because it is going to not have all the scratches and pops generally speaking. Used vinyl can be perfectly fine though. I just avoid places like thrift stores because they like to gouge as well and I find they typically sell stuff that is in poor condition. V...

Re: How do you typically get your media these days?

Love vinyl. I did have to tell myself to only buy things I love on vinyl.

I still do torrents. Use Plex as well.

Re: The big CMX upgrade of 2022

In my experience CAPTCHA isn't perfect but will bring it down to a manageable number. Other things like limiting new users ability to post URL's & images in posts, or which forums they can post in can be helpful too.

Re: CricketMX is 17

Not sure how much help I can be, but let me know if there's anything I can do to help...even if it is deleting threads from spammers lol. I have had some attempts at getting a forum going and just hard to get an audience on a forum.

SSL and Spam

Battye, Not sure what the future holds for CricketMX but having been around for so long I would be willing to assist the effort to ensure that it stays around for as long as possible. That all being said. I think the anti-spam efforts aren't being every effective, definitely needs to be something li...

Re: CricketMX is 17

Ultimately the forum software needs to be updated, adding a captcha to help prevent bots from registering and SSL would be a good idea too...

Re: Plex

Boxee looks interesting. Not sure off the top of my head if WD TV lets you add in apps like a FireStick does but I know Plex has apps ported to just about every platform. Over the years I have collected so much stuff, it is nice being able to organize everything .
