Hey up all,

Been using a temporary logo at my phpBB3 website (link in signature) ever since converted from phpBB2. I did this myself which took ages as I'm no graphics expert and I don't have a great deal of time to commit to making a new one. I did ask my other administrator but has been tied up with real life over the past few months and will continue to be.

I know in my head the kind of logo my site needs as what's missing at the moment is a brief description of what the site is about. It's basically a word games site but with knobs on. i.e. Arcade, chat room, UQM, extras, massive off-topic, as well as links to well known word game sites like (both single player and multi-player), suppliers, word games related cartoons and jokes and so on. No, this isn't a "plug". Just giving an idea of what my site is about lol.

The main logo font needs to be some kind of "scribble" or what I would call italic old style fancy writing. In background, lbasically or mixed d text/images going in all directions like the words: Word games, Arcade, Live chat, Interactive Zone, etc, etc.

If anyone knows of a, ahem, free graphics artist, etc, and can point me in the right direction, I would be eternally grateful. I can't afford to offer anything in return except your name in lights at footer of index page.

Thanks for reading this and look forward to replies. :D

Lot changed since above post. I've installed a new theme (Milky Way) which reminds me a bit like Aphrodite Blue which I originally had in phpBB2 and was immensely popular with members. Since switching to phpBB3, I've finally started to believe that the default Prosilver has been putting members of visiting the site as I've already high positive feedback from rest of my administrators / moderators. :D

Anyhow, I've managed to "tweak" Milky Way theme a fair bit:

a) Removed fixed forum width - too narrow before
b) Replaced header background gradient with image
c) Created new logo which overlaps header background image
d) Added Menu Buttons MOD
e) Fixed forum image problem - description was not inline with forum image (shown next to no new posts/new posts image). Apparently this problem still exists with Subsilver2 style. Tsk.
f) Added Statistics MOD (Members who has visited in past 24 hours)
g) Added custom block under nav links. This can only be seen by Guests to give them information on what my website is all about - something that was really lacking before.

Milky Way theme is not yet "live" on my board - double-checking all areas to make sure all looks and functions ok. This will become default style.

Cheers battye!

I'm almost done. Just need to adjust post image table size in stylesheet.css as they are considerably smaller than Prosilver.

I need to get round to creating a test account at my site so you can see how far I've got as new style isn't "live" yet. Hoping all my members will like the new look!

.... fixed too. imageset.cfg file holds all image sizes.

It's like starting all over again with customising styles. I had previously tweaked phpbb2 Aphrodite Blue a great deal - especially with add-on MOD's like Arcade, UQM, Hangman (that took a while), etc. Have recently adjusted Milky Way to display ACP Announcement Centre MOD as looked "odd" before. This is sadly one of the drawbacks of having own custom style as have to modify any MOD's added that affect template files... but fortunately for me, I enjoy seeing end result after tweaking them lol.

I hear ya there. It sometimes gets way too addicting to watch what differences a small change can make. Suddenly you realize you've been looking at a computer screen for many hours.

New theme and logo is "live" (has been for a while since last post here but been rather busy). Already started on refining Milky Way theme for phpBB Arcade MOD - looks kinda messy at the moment. ;)

I like to play with images, so, if I can be of any help, gimme a shout. :)

Of course, the ball had to be from cricket.... right?

That's impressive! :D

What I eventually settled with is the excellent Custom Header Logo MOD. Allows you to choose banners and/or backgrounds for specific forums and even external phpBB3 pages (i.e. UQM, Arcade, Hangman, etc). I've kept the same background throughout and used http://cooltext.com to create various foreground text logos. Easier to manage. Done one for board index, arcade, hangman, UQM (at my test site), Interactive game zone forum, and now doing a couple of others. Just text using different fonts and colours.

A young guy some months ago was referred to my site (by battye) and came up with a great new banner for us. Unfortunately the width needed altering. However, he is extremely busy with school work and exams now so can understand his limited time. (Hope you do well in exams Specky!)

I will bear in mind your kind offer, Rat. Thank you. Going to add yours to my test site. :D

I was just going to ask who came up with your design. I'm due for a logo change as well. I need something that I can make into a decal I can place on motorcycles. I worked this backwards I feel. lol

My site is Mythrottle.net and my race bike is now: (kinda of not the same thing lol)

Hi havocwreaker,

Rat did the one above ^^ which was at my test site but now isn't because I've been tweaking testing MOD's, tweaking style and so on.

Because I have several logos that changes depending on which forum (or add-on i.e. Arcade, Hangman, etc.) you are viewing. I used cooltext.com for all the fancy logo text - really easy to use. The background is from phpBB3 Aero style (I think).

The forum index logo (Screwball Scribble) is likely to change again because my site is now the official portal, forums and support for English version of Worldox. ;)
