How much space do you have?

How many drives, and the total capacity.

How to find out? For Windows users, go to My Computer, right click each of your hard drives and go to properties, add each drive up and post it.

I have on this machine, my baby :)

80 GB (74.5 GB) + 750 GB (698 GB) = 830 GB (772.5 GB)

I've got 80 GB of music (38,000 songs), 100 movies and other sorts of stuff. The movies, not porn....

In short, not as much as you

External hard drive (76.3), internal hard drive (37.2) and a couple of 1GB USB drives.

So about 115GB in total... of which I'd say about 40% is free.

On my main server at home I have 40GB for the main drive and 180GB for storage and backups. Lappy only has 20GB and my dead server has 30GB (needs some hardware replaced). There's a spare 160?GB sitting at the house, but I need to revive a machine to put it in.

At work I only have 40GB, but how much space do you need at work. :)

Mom is set up with a pair of 80GB drives, which are full of Dr Who. :P

I have 480GB in my main PC which is 4 120GB WD's.

I have a few more hard drives laying around. I probably have close to a TB if I combined them all.

I guess the only question now is, how long will that 422 gb last? :D

At the rate that I rip DVD's probably in the next 100 movies or so. I'm planning on buying 2 more 750 GB drives, possibly three, but we'll see how my wallet feels about all that later. One is going to be a backup of one 750 and the other will just be a continuation of storage space, basically I'm doing a mirror, I could do a riad set up, but if I ever have to use the drives for another reason it would be eaiser to use a program like second copy to mirror the drives.

I'm going to see about working my way over to have 1.5 TB on my machine. If the price of the 1024 (1 TB) drives come down, I might go with that instead, partition off 698 GB for the mirror of the 750 and the rest for extra storage. Hell you lose so much on large drives, I lose 52 GB upon formatting.

If I have to in the future, build a new machine strictly for backups and extra storage, I will.

I mean if you have that much space, you better back it up some way, if the drive goes bad, it's going to take a while to collect everything.

--edit---

as a household, between 3 computers I have:

20 GB (18 GB) on the P3 Dell
40 GB (37 GB)on the Server
750GB (698GB) on drive 2 on Dual Core system
80GB (74GB) on drive 1 on Dual Core system

total
890 GB (827 GB)
