I never did get round to installing a MOD that shows the Bots. Got "who has been online in past 24 hours" one. Bots go flipping nuts at my website a few days after it's been really busy (new posts, etc). I quick look in Admin CP overview once revealed a staggering 57 Google Bots, 9 Yahoo, and one... Windowa Live Bot.

btw, I'm still using phpBB2. Probably make the switch in January 2009. ;)

Actually, I don't mind the bots so much... it's the amount of spam users trying to register. Thank gawd for the Anti-Spam ACP MOD. On average get around 20 a day. Least this MOD stops them in there tracks! :D

It was the Spam-Bots Registering as users that started our "Spambuster Of The Week Award"
The annoying critters were eventually stopped in their tracks by something Battye did.
The Bots coming in now serve a purpose as "Crawlers" for topics on Google etc.

I just can't let go of this thread!!

I made the Easy BotStopper MOD to stop MOD's.

In its heyday it was fantastic... this was late 2006 I think. Then the bots twigged to it and started to make workarounds to get passed my MOD :(

But I still laugh when I hear of some primitive bots which still succumb to my 2006-style technology :P
