Seems the French are deciding in favour of common sense against the cartel of greed. :D
One the one hand they take subsidies and tarrifs on blank media and on the other they attempt to steal away your traditional fair use rights.
No longer :D , the french judiciary has decided they cant have it both ways and has declared copy protection on all dvd,s and by implication CD,s illegal.

This ruling means that 80 percent of DVDs now on the French market are equipped with illegal mechanisms,'' said Julien Dourgnon, spokesman for consumer advocacy group UFC-Que Choisir, which brought the case.
