P2P: WinMx 3.53 - secondary connection
Problem:
Started Happening: Approx 2 weeks ago after SP2 was applied
New software: WindowsXP Service Pack 2
Firewall: ZoneAlarm Pro
Internet Connection: Cable
Service Provider: Optus Australia
Operating Systen: WindowsXP Professional (SP2)
Computer Info: Pentium4 2.4Ghz, 1GB-Ram

When I click on "Chat" in main window of WinMx it starts loading down the Channel Index - it gets to a certain point (today it loaded 413 Channels) and the "Online hh:mm:ss" indication changes to "Connecting..." (similar to when in "Networks" and you click "Refresh") so I dont get to see all the channels.
Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Yes i have this already a long time, and i use a primary connection. I don't get further mostly then about 300 channels. I have been looking into the problem but it simple times out somewhere.
I have a fast adsl connection so its not the connection, its somehow in winmx. In the new beta 3.54 it still exsists. I was running mcma but that wasn't the problem either since 3.54 beta does not support mcma yet.

Here is what id o to get what i want. I use next to winmx a chatclient named Rabbit (http://www.mxtools.net). In this client you can, by rightclicking on the roomname, copy the roomname. I paste it into the filterline in winmx and then i can enter the room of my choice, but i agree its only a substitute way of working. So if anybody else has a solution of more permanent way then i be more then pleased to use it.

Oh one more thing i have this problem on my laptop which is wireless, my desktop, running my chatroom, gets the room fine on primary, and the desktop is cabled. Could be a thing.

Thanks Alex1 - I tried Primary connection and can get the whole Channel list - then switch back to secondary to do the rest - seems to work ok until someone fixes the problem. I dont want to stay on primary because I have a monthly download limit.

So that gets the whole channel list but you still have to reconnect. Hmm.

However it might have worked for Russell it doesn't solve the problem, and i have heard more people complaining about this, but i have no real solution.

That sounds like a portforwarding problem.

Check out http://www.portforward.com on how to properly configure your router.

I also have been having this problem and when I was primary i actually had my ports blocked by something  (my cable perhaps) and had to change my Winmx ports to 120, and 80. I lost my ability to upload all of a sudden like..and changing to secondary didn't help but the port change did go figure.....

Anyway i am on secondary now and every time i load or refresh the channel list it knocks me from ONLINE to CONNECTING and that aint changed.....this problem is wide spread and seems to be mostly with USA cable usuers.....so i dont know...but the following link is interesting...

http://www.vladd44.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3621 ....

So for the list fix....my only suggestion is to keep you rooms you want to enter quickly on your favorites list as this seems to work even when i dont have a complete channel list...(which is most of the time these days)..

PS- I dont have XP and have not used the SP2 or SP1...so its not that..

To be honest it started here when i started using the new winmx 3.53. Anyways the favorites list won't work always since some rooms keep switching hosts. Thats why i use rabbit to copy roomnames.
