Hello folks,

This thread is for any music makers out there, if you want help and advice on music programs or need fresh inspiration for bongo rhythms this is the place for you.

On the music tip at the moment I am mostly editing on Peak Bias, a really good program in my opinion. I have switched to this from Soundforge (along with going PC to Mac) other than that I'm just reading up on studio accoustics for our new rooms.

Love, peace and an eternity of bongo rhythms.

Hmmm. I know you could get Soundforge for PC off of winmx but the usual applies, look out for virus' n stuff (retail price is arround $350). Is soundforge fun? Well depends on your idea of fun! Its main purpose is for editing audio, for example you might want to take someones speach and use soundforge to rearrange it. For example you could take the sentence "When I found Jesus it saved me from drugs" and change it to "When I found drugs it saved me from Jesus" etc etc.

Like I say it depends on your idea of fun but if you enjoy taking old records and extracting parts of it to edit and twist to make new arrangements from (as I do) Soundforge is a great program. It comes with a range of effects, such as, time stretch, pitch shift plus an array of modulation and time based effects (reverb, phaser, wah wah etc.) all of which are VST compatible (Cubase format)

For begineers to computer music, I recommend a program such as Fruity Loops (costing between $79 and $109, depending on what version you get). This is based around a drum machine and is pretty simple in concept, great if you want to try your hand at making modern dance music. It comes with a selection of sounds. I dont use this program very often but if anyone got hold of it and wanted some help I would be happy to research any queries. Until next time....... :flower:

Hi folks,

Just thought I'd update you with some info of a cool new drum machine vst instrument. It goes by the name of RM IV (http://www.linplug.com) and ir works within a host program such as Cubase/Logic etc. We paid £50 and I have to say I think it is great. It comes with over a gig of high quality drum samples, which have been multisampled and there are good options for adding feel to the rhythms you create. I've yet to test the bongo samples but the 808 kits and the Drum Workshop kits have impressed me a lot.

Until next time keep those bongos a playin'
