I noticed that the number of available protections had dropped by about 5000 last time I ran Spybot.
Checking their site reveals that Version 1.5 is ready to go.
3 September 2007
We're proud to announce: version 1.5!
We have to admit, it was delayed a few times, mostly because we always had some new feature we wanted to implement in mind, but now it's finally here: we're proud to announce the availability of Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5. This new version features a lot of improved detection mechanisms (which in parts were already made available through the regular 1.4 updates in the past months), improved Operating System support (Windows Vista integration, restored support for Windows 95, more compatibility with Wine, support for bootable Windows CDs), improved browser support (e.g. for immunization) and much more - you can find an overview of noticable changes and some screenshots here.

Downloads will be made available throughout the next days, and we'll try to keep the download mirror list up-to-date with who already has this newest version.

All advantages, but no handicaps: improved version 1.5.2 released - 30, January 2008
But first of all, we apologize for the long starting time of Spybot-S&D 1.5.1 to all users. This item has been fixed now in this new version 1.5.2.

Thank goodness I thought it was just me!!
I've just downloaded the latest version and the response time to start the program is now immediate.

Great I updated yesterday when I checked if there was any new updates.
I notice that too it took a while to start up with the older version 1.5.

So we both had it!! I should have posted it!!

Not only was it slow to start-up, but there was the strangest noise to go with it.
I had thought to post it from time-to-time, but for the life of me I didn't know how to type a sound!!
It was a double - brrrrppp, brrrrppp or thereabouts. Every time without fail.
My unqualified diagnostic...drivers!! Mainly because it was driving me crazy!!

 Moon
I don't care too much for the Ad-aware 2007 version either why did they've to include the extra plus & pro options in the free version & add itself as a start up Services too.I had to change it to manual start instead of automatic.I don't need it running all the time in the free version.

Spybot Search & Destroy Version 1.6.2
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
26. January 2009
The probably last maintenance release of Spybot-S&D 1.6.2 is finally ready, available starting today on the first mirrors, with more becoming available as they're added. It will also be available through the integrated updater soon after it is online completely.

Among its bugfixes and new features are support for the latest Opera releases, support for Googles new browser Chrome, fixed support for fresh older Firefox installations, improved support for fast user switching while Spybot is running, plus a few more bugfixes.

A preview of Spybot 2.0 will also be available as soon as servers have adjusted to the additional 1.6.2 release load.
