Have you read something that seemed fishy? Then Stinkyjournalism is the place for you!

About StinkyJournalism.org and Checkyourfacts.org
Not all journalism stinks. But there are times when reported "facts" smell fishy. When news stories go bad, the reporter’s method is usually to blame. At Stinkyjournalism.org we advocate for more rigorous - and scientific - journalistic methodology. Methods are objective, not people. From brief reports to continuing investigations, we hold the media accountable by examining concrete, measurable errors of fact and ethical breaches encountered in the press.

My kind of site. I love it. Especially the roostertail robot. Nice idea. (You must substitute rooster for a word (farm bird - male) beginning with c for this to make sense in a beverage related kind of way.)

Einstein's theory of relativity on display for first time
In a darkened room in Jerusalem, the world was given a rare glimpse Sunday into the mind of Albert Einstein as he worked to unlock the secrets of the universe.

The display of 46 pages, each handwritten by the famed scientist, marks the first time the complete, original manuscript of his landmark "General Theory of Relativity" has been presented in public.

The exhibit, which opened on Sunday night, forms part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities and coincides with Einstein's birthday on March 14.

Like a shrine to science, the pages form a rectangle in the centre of an otherwise barren room, each one encapsulated in its own pine casing and illuminated by the faintest of light, to preserve the fragile paper.

"It speaks for itself and it is exhibited like a work of art," said curator Hanoch Gutfreund, struggling to contain the emotion evoked by the work.

Page after page is filled with Einstein's spidery handwriting and the mathematical formulas. Parts are underlined, others crossed out and rewritten as he strove to perfect what Gutfreund called his "most important intellectual achievement."

What's going on at Google?
Why am I not seeing that instantly recognisable face of Albert Einstein on their logo today?
It is his birthday after all! No birthday cake for you at the Googleplex! :)

Stuff
One of my favourite sayings is: "Save the planet, it is where I keep all my stuff!"
Do you ever wonder about the amount of stuff you accumulate?
Well, it would appear that it is time to start wondering just a little bit more...about stuff & the planet!

How Do Dental Students Get Practical Experience?
With a robot if they are training in Japan!
Practice robot for dentists winces, gags and drools just like a person
Image
We've seen creepy dental practice 'bots from Japan before, though this one gives us the heebie-jeebies even more than the last one. Called "Hanako," the robot is a collaboration between the experts at Tmsuk and several Japanese universities, and is designed to simulate a patient's response to questions and dental work.

Hanako will respond when greeted and asked several questions, and will react to the dental student working on its mouth. She can open and close her mouth when ordered, perform random actions such as a sneeze and even discharge saliva. Touch sensors in her mouth will have her wincing in pain if a press is too hard or an instrument goes somewhere it shouldn't, or gag violently if things go south.

Better a 'bot than a real person for clumsy dental students to practice on, I guess. Thanks, Hanako! See it in action in the video below...

Chocolate Intoxication
Yes, it is a real condition & potentially dangerous at that!
Theobromine is a compound found in chocolate, that some animals, namely cats & dogs, just cant metabolise.
So, with Easter upon us remember; don't share your eggs with your pets!

Mice & rats can also suffer chocolate intoxication. That would be death by chocolate, oh dear me!

Playing Possum - What Does It Mean?
Summarising a recent news item:
Wolfe, p issed as a newt gives CPR. Only it's not playing possum you turkey, it's as dead as a dodo!
Donald Wolfe, a 55 year old central Pennsylvania man as been charged with public drunkenness after be was observed giving mouth to mouth resuscitation to an opossum that had been deceased for quite awhile.

Possum’s are about the size of a domestic house cat, and are known for playing ‘dead’ whenever threatened, which is where the phrase ‘playing possum’ stems from.
