You will probably have to extract the audio from the mpg. I'll look around to see how it can be done.

http://www.riverpast.com/en/support/tut ... pg/mp3.php

Take a look at that.

One other thing I found but don't know if it will work is to change the extension from mpg to mp3. Some say it works, other say it don't.

I don't think it is a song. From a couple of PM's I have received I am thinking this isn't a music vid he wants just the music from. I wouldn't have gone through the trouble of finding a program to do what he wants if he was looking to extract the audio from a music video. I would have told him to just download the mp3.

All you have to do is open the file with VirtualDub. Click File and Save WAV.... It will sound just as good as the original mpg sound does. Then convert the wav to mp3 with a program like dBpoweramp

I always make sure people get the most difficult questions.....

so what has 4 legs and is always moving?

Thank you Toad, that will work.....the videos i am trying to convert to mp3's are just very rare cuts from a band called the Cure, and will held as treasured items since they are not available in record stores nor the internet in audio format only. I thank you all for your support and curtious help indeed.

If i have any more problems, i for surely know where to go to find my answers to any unregulative problems...

You know I was playing with VirtualDub this morning and didn't even think to mention it. That damn program will hog some resources though.
