The host offers a 99% up time so for about 12 hours we have experienced the 1% downtime. Hopefully this does not occur often. Welcome back to the forum for all of you anxiously awaiting the return.

Canaca's First Email wrote:Hi,

Unfortunately our backbone network provider is down for upgrate, they will be down for three hours, we try to contact them once in a while to enable our network faster, sorry for any inconvenience in this regard
Best Regards.
Canaca's Second Email wrote:Dear Valued Customer,

Today Canaca-Com Inc. experienced several hours of downtime as a result of Hydro One making hardware / software changes on their network. Hydro One is the provider who connects all outside cities such as ours ( mississauga ) to toronto. All incoming connections into Toronto’s core passes through Hydro One. Last night at approx 2 am they started maintainance and there was supposed to be no downtime however this was not the case. Our bandwidth dropped to 10% of what it should have been and so many requests were trying to pass through this 10% that most of them did not make it. To further explain, we found out today that all this was caused by a simple MTU number being incorrect. A number which was inserted into their switches that did not meet our bandwidth limitations. Basically they set up a pipe way too small and the traffic our network was getting thus our clients could not all fit through this pipe. It took them a very long time and a few level 3 engineers to figure this out. Infact as is always the case, the issue was so small and so minor that it was difficult to catch. To sum it all up @ approx 4pm EST they figured out what was wrong and corrected the issue. Our service is now back to normal and is working 100%. Please note none of our system were down nor had any downtime. We did reboot a few routers and switches during this period to illuminate any possibility of the problem being on our end however most of the network was working 100% internally. Again this is not normal operation for us as we had not yet been down this year. We of course are doing our best to make sure the network is always stable and reliable. If you are encountering any issues please do e-mail support@canaca.com and they will be able to assist you promptly.

well, odd that html pages like the index worked fine untill you requested php pages, which do call for numerous requests. Well if it happens again, might want to look into other hosts. How much are you paying for thier service. I asked jon about pricing, now this is nothing compared to what you have available for you site, but I asked him what would 500 MB and 10 GB cost, $5.50 per month, 10% if paid for full year...im not into price things, but to me it's dirt cheap, and right for this moment, he hasn't done anything to screw up the good uptime, since the server is in atlanta and not in his dad's office..
