what does cricketmx need?

Thats an interesting question....what does cmx need? I'm a webmaster of an unsucessful site...I'm sure anyone will take my advice. No but seriously. I've learned about the "internet culture" if you will, how people respond on what you do and how you present something.
I'm going to compare my site to another site that is remarkably similar to mine, this was actually not intended.
Boltsucks had probably 30x the traffic than mine, and then all of a sudden they're gone. They come back and no one really goes back, why is that?
My site has been down many times, why did my users return?
This is why: I participated and people for some reason they liked me enough, even when I did some things that were plainly wrong.
This site actually started after mine if I'm not mistaken, I can't make any statistics since this site doesn't have a counter like OneStat, but it clearly has about 5 times more posts than mine (I got around 6,700). So what did battye do? Is there actually more people coming here than mine, it doesn't matter. The whole Idea of making a site grow is how you present something, and the general attitude of the site.
Here is what Raydr of boltsucks done wrong, he complained and he didn't partcipate. I complained in the begining stages of my site but I participated and bonded with the users so well that most people stayed.
So what does this site need to be even more better?
Less is more, a lot of people think putting load and loads of stuff like games and junk like fake lotteries will attract people, not ture, people dont like too much stuff. If you're going to add or remove something take a poll, they're not just for the top ten songs of the year, put them to use and you will get better results. Yeah this may seem like common sense but it shocks me on how many people dont do this.
The biggest thing is for the administrator to participate. When I came to winmxcommunity I had no Idea that Vulpes was my age. I thought he wa some kind of powerful force, although winmxcommunity was the first site that i ever joined in actually the first I had ever seen that used phpbb, i was new to the whole thing.
You could use wcc for an example. I was astounded on how fast wcc grew, by the time of it's collapse it grew from just over 10,000 posts when I joined to some 25,000+ when I was banned, or actually a porn site with the same IP address was found by my ISP at the time and banned the IP from thier servers, so I couldn't access it from home and I pissed off a bunch of people and we'll not get into that.
What could we add to this site to make it useful?
Simple things:
Google search bar
Add email accounts
Try out internet radio
Other things you might want to consider is the avialablity of pages, how easy is it to make a quiz? what if people want to search for something without having to go to another page? Most of the people here spend most of their time in the forums, like most sites. Therefore it is safe to say a lot of access to other things dealing with the site like online-scabble should be linked from here.
Making the site more useful [search bars, email, access to stuff]
Other minor things:
Not that has any huge bearing on things, if you know someone who has a web page, even a crummy my space account, ask them if they wouldn't mind putting a link to cmx on thier site.
I had once tried to do "link exchanges" simply I put your link up on my site you put up mine. Don't know how you think of that, however.
Put links to things that your visitors would be interested in. Study them, what do they talk about. If they talk a lot about computers tweaktown.com is an awesome place...I'm not talking about advertising, provide information for their interests.
