Billionaire investor and dot-com veteran Mark Cuban had harsh words Thursday for YouTube, the online site that lets people share video clips, saying only a "moron" would purchase the wildly popular start-up.

Cuban, co-founder of HDNet and owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, also said YouTube would eventually be "sued into oblivion" because of copyright violations.

"They are just breaking the law," Cuban told a group of advertisers in New York. "The only reason it hasn't been sued yet is because there is nobody with big money to sue."

Hope it is many more years before YouTube goes, there are some really good clips on there, many of which wouldn't be violating copyright...

Analyst Firm Predicts YouTube Is 'Goin' Down'

Analyst firm Forrester Research has added its voice to YouTube critics who believe it's only a matter of time before the wildly popular video site is faced with a potentially crippling copyright-violation suit from the entertainment industry.

In a recent blog posting entitled "YouTube Is Goin' Down," Forrester analyst Josh Bernoff drew parallels between YouTube and Napster, a once popular file-sharing network that went belly-up following a music industry suit that charged the company was building a business illegally by allowing users to trade copyrighted songs.

i would suspect that YouTube has a lot to do with the writer's strike. as now you can find major corporations who have accounts to preview up coming shows and or music. ie: Oprah Winfrey

Spot on, the writers want a cut of the revenue made from posting content online to sites like YouTube and Myspace. Look at shows like Saturday Night Live, after each episode NBC post the top sketches to YouTube, and the writers get $0.00 for it!! Interesting to note though, that a lot of the striking writers are uploading content to YouTube as the strike goes on... I guess they can't help but make television :)
