Thanks for all of the updates P2P, I have finally gotten around to updating to the newest Mac version of uTorrent. It looks really nice too, it's all split into tabs and has a different interface and now has a download/upload speed graph :)

I split my connection between 3 people and one of them was getting slow download speeds in utorrent, I suspected it was uTP and I googled how to disable uTP to see if it was the problem. It was the problem because after I disabled it his downloads went faster. He's using v2.0.2.

To disable uTP, go to Options > Preferences > Advanced and set bt.transp_disposition to 5.
Then go to Options > Preferences > BitTorrent and uncheck Enable Bandwidth Management.
Another thing I read is if you disable uTP you won't be able to connect to other users that use uTP.

I found this info on utorrent's forum.
bt.transp_disposition: This option controls µTorrent's level of bias towards using TCP or uTP for transporting data (assuming the peer at the other end of the connection supports both transport protocols). The following is a list of the accepted values:
1 allows µTorrent to attempt outgoing TCP connections
2 allows µTorrent to attempt outgoing uTP connections
4 allows µTorrent to accept incoming TCP connections
8 allows µTorrent to accept incoming uTP connections
16 tells µTorrent to use the new uTP header. This is an improved communication header, but is not backwards compatible with clients that do not understand it.
This option is interpreted as a bitfield, so values can be added together to obtain a combination of behaviors. Setting this value to 255 guarantees that all behaviors are enabled.

Thanks P2P, if I experience it going very slowly I will give that a go. Strangely since upgrading it does seem to be downloading a little bit faster... in fact, I have noticed a significant delay in loading webpages while downloading a torrent. Normally that is a result of the upload speeds being maxed out and no bandwidth available. I suspect the upload speeds are being reported incorrectly (for instance, I always used to upload at 7-8kbps, now it is less than 1).

FINALLY!

I had it download to my external hard drive about a year ago, and it was disconnected soon after. Ever since it's been eating up space on my internal hard drive in /Volumes/, compounded by the fact that it's hard to find the directory in order to delete the files (I think the only way is to open uTorrent, right click a file and click Open in Finder).

:D :D :D

µTorrent 2.0.4
Release date: August 28, 2010
µTorrent 2.0.4 released
There is a DLL vulnerability in all versions of Windows affecting a great deal of software applications. Subsequently, attack code targeting the μTorrent client surfaced on a third-party website, and while so far no attacks have been reported to us, we have released μTorrent 2.0.4 to fix this vulnerability. The new client disables loading of DLLs from the current working directory and prevents this exploit from functioning. More information about the exploit can be found here:
