Re: Displaying Selected Thread & Ad on Home Page
Please see http://www.nairaland.com I saw it. It is huge. It's PHP and MySQL based, and in that respect similar to phpBB but it is otherwise alien to us ... a thing called Simple Machines Forum . In the last ten minutes the site had 1170 guests and 338 registered users. Those are numbers that our l...

Re: Azureus / Vuze
Wtf I am not sure when it happened, but there's a Vuze Plus version that features DVD burning, built-in anti-virus protection from BitDefender, Play Now (play downloads still in progress) and no ads. http://www.vuze.com/compare.php Yes, there is, and I don't like it. If you sign up for a tri...

Re: Save time in Linux with bash_aliases
Recently I installed LAMP under Ubuntu and the kind folk in the #ubuntu IRC channel gave me some fantastic - not to mention time saving! - advice. If you have any long commands you can easily shorten them through the use of aliases. For instance, with LAMP the command to start Apache was the long ....

Re: Happy 7th Anniversary CMX
Hooray for CMX! Seven years sounds scarily long. That's most of Screamer's™ life! It's longer - by far - than Screamer2™ has been around! Those little details make me feel pretty old but time wasted, I mean, erm, spent here soon knocks the years back off again. I hope we're all still here to celebra...

Re: Photography
I have nothing new to present here but, I thought I'd just say that as far as image editing software goes, Nikon's Capture NX 2 rocks for editing raw (NEF) files. I only discovered this fact yesterday having been scared off by the price tag a couple of years back. I'm still scared of the price tag b...

Re: Google Celebration Images Always Fun!
Personally, I don't love it. They made no effort to make it look like the word "Google" as they usually do. How the f*.* do you pronounce Gmmxle?moongirl wrote:New Year's Eve!

Re: Browser Wars!
Couldn't see the "Feedback" option though.... Yessir. It was moved in beta 8 so it's not so obvious anymore - I guess that means the developers think they're near to their goal now. Having said that I submitted feedback this morning cos upgrading from beta 7 to beta 8 caused some firewall...

Eh? You can do that. I have firefox 4 beta 8 installed now, but I still have my other, older, slower, more annoying firefox too.quahappy wrote:Shame Firefox doesn't allow for stand-alone beta versions as I'd be trying Firefox 4 as well. Like you, Rat, I have quite a few much needed add-ons.

Well, I certainly got mine. Thanks batster. Thanks for keeping this place going all this time, it certainly gives me somewhere to empty the odd thoughts from my head on a regular basis.
Happy Christmas. I'm sure that 2011 will be another good year for CMX.

Re: Browser Wars!
Anyone read what Firefox 4 promises to deliver? I'm liking sound of it. :) A friend of mine has installed the beta and is very happy with it. I'm considering doing that too. [EDIT] The above was my first forum post of the day. After making it I installed the beta of Firefox 4 and then went on to do...
