Re: Plex

I run Plex on a Synology as well. Locally, it handles 4k pretty well but not so good for my external users. I have people in Illinois and Arizona (I live in WV) who use me as their Netflix from time to time and they run into buffering problems with 4k video. So I just get 1080 versions and all is we...

Re: The big CMX upgrade of 2022

Damn, it has been a while. Nice to see some familiar user names. The site looks good. He's back! How have you been going? Anything much happen in the US over the last few years? :vmrgreen: Still working in IT in the federal government space, so nothing new there. I did get divorced during the pande...

Re: Plex

I've had it for so long I couldn't tell you what features are available with the Plex Pass. I can watch it on my TV, Desktop, Laptop, Phone and even from work through a web browser. That took a bit of work since government networks typically don't allow you to hit a server running through commercial...

Re: Plex

I've been running Plex for a few years. I like it, have friends and family that use it regularly to stream movies and TV shows. I did pay for it a long time ago and it was pretty cheap when I did it, not sure what they are charging now.

Re: computer & internet

You will either need to wire it to your router or get a wireless card for it. You can pick up wireless adapters that are USB for pretty cheap.

Re: computer & internet

You need to check to see if your provider allows tethering cause it can get expensive if you don't have the right plan for it. Other than that just search the App store for a tethering app, some are free and some you have to pay for.

How's the business going?

I found a nice little application you may be interested in and will give you another tool to use in your endeavor.

http://www.crossloop.com

It is pretty cool and I am going to use it for my side project which should go live in about 2 weeks.

Re: Another website by me

I am looking at launching a similar thing for my area. Kind of nice to see someone else doing it, looking at what you had gave me a couple of ideas. As far as design goes, I would suggest adding some padding to your content. Right now the words hit the edges of your borders. I would also do the same...

Re: CompTIA A+ & MSCE - Is it worth it?

I have never used SMB. SMB is supposed to be a one server solution since most small businesses don't have the budget for IT. You can learn a lot on it if you get the chance to play with it. I haven't gotten into 2008 server. I have it installed at home and have done some stuff like setting up Active...

So you have a server but don't know how it is setup? Do you know what OS it is running? Do you logon to a domain?

Re: CompTIA A+ & MSCE - Is it worth it?

During the week I am not on my computer much after work. I check the forums regularly throughout the day though and can help you out if you need some guidance.

What kind of setup are you running at work now? How many PC's, employees?

Re: CompTIA A+ & MSCE - Is it worth it?

I'm pretty sure you can use Virtual PC. Virtual Server is more for enterprise level virtual environments, such as multiple virtual servers. Here is a quote from MS on Virtual PC: Use Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 to run multiple operating systems at the same time on the same physical computer. Switch be...
